| Description | This article refers to chosen representative non-fiction texts published in the last decade. Describing the cultural context, it deals with the analysis of popular scientific texts focusing on ecological and ethical issues as well as rhetorics, and characterizes the current situation in the Norwegian discourse by the confrontation between the rhetoric in politics and economics on one side, and the social sciences and humanities on the other. The study also comments on several aspects in the genre pattern of the texts and on the use of performatives according to the speech act theory. |
