Description This article examines the role of national parliaments (NPs) in EUPresidencies, focusing on the Czech EU Presidency in 2022. Usingthe analytical framework of Kaniok and Nováková 2023, this studyintegrates empirical analysis with theoretical insights to assess EUPresidency related parliamentary activities during the Czech man-date. Apart from empirically testing the Kaniok and Novákováframework, we also investigate whether the Czech parliament fol-lowed its roles in the EU affairs or whether the EU Presidencyrepresented a change for it. Our findings suggest that the CzechParliament primarily adhered to established roles, with one notableexception – an increased inter-parliamentary cooperation, goingbeyond the expected behaviour. This study contributes to theunderstanding of NPs in post-Lisbon EU politics and enriches thediscourse on the parliamentary dimension of the EU Presidency, offering insights into the interplay between national legislativeaction and EU governance.
