| Description | Hemp is an annual dioecious plant that was domesticated several thousand years ago, and its therapeutic effects were known to people in ancient cultures (China, Persia). About 27.8 million years ago, cannabis diverged from hops (Humulus) and, according to botanical taxonomy, belongs to the order Urticales, family Cannabaceae, genus Cannabis, species sativa (C. sativa Linné). The State Institute for Drug Control states: "Cannabis for medicinal use of the species Cannabis sativa exists with varying proportions of active substances and associated different effects. Determining the optimal type of cannabis for medicinal use (hereinafter also referred to as "medicinal cannabis" or simply "cannabis") and the content of active substances, in particular delta-9-tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) and cannabidiol (CBD), depends on the symptoms of the disease." |
