Description The emerging zoonotic nematode Angiostrongylus cantonensis causes severe neural angiostrongyliasis in both humans and animals. The parasite has been reported in Spain. We detected A. cantonensis in rats and gastropods from the Campania region, southern Italy, demonstrating its broad distribution on the southern coast of Europe.
