| Description | The lecture examined the impact of parental imprisonment on children and the dynamics of family relationships. Drawing on empirical findings and theoretical foundations (attachment theory and the capability approach), it showed how separation, stigmatization, and unclear communication about imprisonment disrupt a child’s sense of security, relational identity, and opportunities for development. The presentation emphasized the role of the caregiving parent, the need to support contact between children and incarcerated parents, and the importance of trauma-informed approaches within social work, schools, and the justice system. It concluded with recommendations aimed at improving the protection of children with imprisoned parents and developing services that adequately respond to their specific needs. |
