Citation
Description The first edition of this comprehensive commentary on the European Convention on Human Rights, published in 2012, has already become one of the key works of Czech and Slovak legal literature. Thanks to its original style, systematic interpretation, and extensive analysis of the case law of the European Court of Human Rights, it provided readers with a clear summary of the interpretative principles of the Convention, their practical application to specific cases, and a critical assessment of thousands of court decisions. The second, updated and expanded edition responds to the dynamic development of ECHR case law over the last thirteen years, during which the court has issued approximately 13,000 new judgments, and also reflects significant changes in court proceedings resulting from Protocols Nos. 15 and 16 and amendments to the Rules of Procedure. The publication thus once again offers a comprehensive, in-depth, and yet understandable interpretation of individual rights and freedoms, the Convention's control mechanism, and its interpretative and applicative contexts. The ambition of the second edition is to build on the extraordinary professional response and become a basic reference source for legal theorists and practitioners familiar with the current decision-making practice of the European Court of Human Rights.
