Description Syphilis is a systemic infectious disease caused by Treponema pallidum subsp. pallidum and remains one of the most serious sexually transmitted infections worldwide. The disease may involve multiple organ systems, particularly the skin, eyes, central nervous system, and cardiovascular system, and carries a risk of vertical transmission in untreated pregnant women. According to the World Health Organization, approximately 8 million new cases of acquired syphilis and 700,000 cases of congenital syphilis were estimated globally in 2022. Although syphilis remains highly prevalent in developing countries, its incidence has been increasing in developed regions over the past decade. This presentation focuses on a rare clinical manifestation of secondary syphilis known as syphilis framboesiformis. The condition is presented in the form of a clinical case report. Particular emphasis is placed on diagnostic challenges and clinical morphology. The lecture also briefly compares syphilis with yaws, another treponemal disease differing mainly in the mode of transmission.
