Description Jadeitite axeheads are rare archaeological objects in Central Europe, because potential sources of jadeitite are not known in the area and the axeheads represent distant imports. Comparing surrounding countries, Moravia is relatively rich in their findings and new localities are constantly being added. Their distribution implies a connection to the Lengyel culture (in Moravia, a culture with Moravian painted ware), which is also confirmed by the now presented westernmost find of a jadeitite axehead from Pálovice near Jemnice. The raw material was classified using the determination of density and its mineralogical composition on the basis of X-ray diffraction.
