| Description | This paper analyzes the attitudes of Catholic Church representatives toward the Anabaptists in Moravia during the 16th and 17th century, and to what extent these attitudes were influenced by post-Tridentine Catholic policy. Furthermore, it seeks to identify the role of clergy in the (non-)persistence of Anabaptists in the region and their involvement in anti-Anabaptist policy. Additionaly, the study defines other roles that Catholic clergy assumed in their interactions with Anabaptists and examines to what extent these roles were shaped by the religious affiliation of both parties. |
