| Description | The study focuses on the current state of two peripheral types within the Northeastern Bohemian dialect subgroup: the Podještědí and Náchod types. Although the linguistic situation in these areas is subject to gradual leveling due to standardization and sociolinguistic pressures, the speech of the oldest gene ration still preserves numerous conservative dialect features. The analysis cen ters on phonetic, morphological, and lexical levels, in which these varieties differ from both standard Czech and the central dialect regions. The empirical part draws on fieldwork conducted using guided monologues with elderly speakers. T he collected material is compared with data from the Czech Linguistic Atlas, allowing for an assessment of both the preservation of traditional features and ongoing tendencies toward leveling. The aim is to contribute to a deeper under standing of the current shape and developmental dynamics of peripheral Czech dialects. |
