| Description | Persistent intracranial occlusion of a large vessel following the failure of standard treatments for acute ischemic stroke, including intravenous thrombolysis and mechanical thrombectomy, often results in catastrophic outcomes for patients. Current clinical guidelines do not provide alternative revascularization options for such cases. Microsurgical intervention may serve as a potential rescue strategy in highly selected patients who exhibit a substantial volume of salvageable brain tissue during these emergency scenarios. |
