| Description | The exhibition of the Technical Museum of Brno is conceived as an open medieval codex, whose pages unfold the story of the European sword. The exhibits serve as illustrations or delicate illuminations of its chapters, offering a multifaceted perspective on this phenomenon. In addition to the changes in the shapes, lengths, and decorations of swords over the centuries and millennia, the exhibition primarily tells the story of how advances in craftsmanship and metalworking influenced their quality and the quantities produced. It was a great honor for the Methodological Center for Conservation to work on the research and restoration of Jan of Rottal’s sword, in collaboration with historian Prof. Tomáš Knoz from the Faculty of Arts at Masaryk University, who provided the results of his cultural-historical study for the exhibition. |
