Description This article deals with Kepler's treatise De Stella Nova written and published during his stay in Prague. A new star, which we now know to be a Type Ia supernova, appeared in the constellation Serpent Handler in October 1604. It was observed for more than a year by scholars and astronomers in Europe and Asia. In his treatise, Kepler collected and evaluated his own observations of the supernova, as well as those of others in Europe, examining its position, brightness, color, and distance. Based on parallax measurements, he correctly placed it in the sphere of fixed stars
