Description This chapter summarizes the historical development and the current state of foundation law in the Czech Republic. It provides an explanation as to why enterprise foundations are not firmly embedded in the Czech legal culture, unlike in the jurisdictions of some of the country’s direct neighbors. It follows with a presentation of the important milestones which enabled the concept to take root in the Czech Republic and a discussion of the legal forms currently available for use as enterprise foundations. It considers the advantages and shortcomings of the individual legal structures and provides examples of practical use. It concludes with a brief comparison of these legal forms and an outlook for the future.
