Description In the prospective randomised study the authors evaluated the group of 50 patients with isthmic or degenerative spondylolisthesis of the 3rd to 5th lumbar vertebra, 25 of them treated by the PLIF and 25 by the ALIF technique (operated on from 2001 to 2003). Intraoperative reduction - partial or complete by means of internal transpedicular fixator and posterolateral fusion were always performed. The time of anesthesia and surgery, intra- and postoperative blood loss and complications were evaluated. The data were statistically evaluated. The combined 360 degree fusion by means of the ALIF technique lasted significantly longer (both surgery and anesthesia time).
