Description Cytoskeleton was studied during conidiogenesis in Aureobasidium pullulans,Cryptococcus neoformans and Fellomyces fuzhouensis as target for antifungals by immunofluorescence and electron microscopy. Cytoplasmatic microtubules played a dominant role during the polar differentiation of conidia, nuclear movement, and nuclear division. Synchronous mitotic spindles formed in the multinuclear hyphae of A. pullulans. In basidiomycete C.neoformans and F.fuzhouensis mitotic spindles formed in the nucleus in the bud/conidium. Actin patches were in areas of cell wall growth, actin cables in polar growth of conidia. The cytoskeleton functions in all stages of conidiogenesis, as also evidenced by cessation by cytoskeleton inhibitors, especially by those inhibiting microtubules. Marie Kopecká initiated this work as a Visiting Professor Chiba University in 1998-1999.
