Description The study focused on the issue of the development of intelligence; a re-analysis of the data collected during the longitudinal project called "Mental development of children of various social background" was conducted. The data from 8 measurements with 4 different assessments spanning from 3 to 15 years of the children's age were analyzed. The sample consisted of 364 children (181 boys and 183 girls). The results on the stability of the individual differences in mental abilities are in agreement with previous findings: the older children at the time of the initial testing and the shorter the interval between tests, the more stable the scores. Furthermore, we tried to produce a typology of the developmental trends. By means of the cluster analysis, a solution for 3, 4, 5, and finally 6 types has been found. The solution for 6 types is presented for it reflects not only the differences in the overall level of ability but also the differences in the course of the development. In the course of the development of the intelligence, sex differences were found.
