Description This paper examines the different approaches to the pragmatic analysis of the advertising texts. The best solution seems to be the combination of the traditional analysis of linguistic levels and the pragmatic dimension. In this way it is possible to maintain the systematic character of the traditional method and at the same time investigate the role of the different linguistic elements in the persuasive function of the advertising messages.
