Description The article provides an insight into the problem of methamphetamine dependence and from own experiments describes the role of combined administration of methamphetamine and serotonergic antidepressant fluoxetine in behavioral and pharmacokinetic animal models. In those were studied both, the involvement of fluoxetine on intake of methamphetamine in the model of dependence in rats (i. v. drug self-administration) and on metabolizing activity of selected izoenzymes of CYP 450 in the model of isolated rat liver. After the application of fluoxetine there were described the decreased intake of methamphetamine in dependent rats and the anti-biodegradative impact on methamphetamine inhibition of CYP2C6, CYP2D2 and CYP3A1/2 oxidative activity. The original results are presented comparison to corresponding literal data available. The aim is to turn the attention towards further possibilities of pharmacological intervention into treatment of methamphetamine dependence and facilitation of withdrawal.
