| Description | In this article I comment on a recent study in comparative linguistics in which the author is mapping the frequency of German translation equivalence of the Czech reflexive pronoun si in the Czech German Parallel Corpus. I emphasize the importance of choosing for comparisons only one and the same linguistic level in both languages and demonstrate that the frequency of the German reflexive pronoun is significantly higher than is suggested in the corpus study as soon as one reduces the influence of lexical and stylistic factors. |
