Citation
Description The collection contains contributions performed at international conference devoted to the research of German dialects in the area of Czech Republic. This conference has been held by the Department of German language and literature at Faculty of Education, Masaryk University. The focus of the contributions creates partial results of dialectal research carried out by a direct method in Czech Republic. The researchers' attendance has been also focused on on reciprocal Czech-German language contacts, namely the influence of Czech on German language islands in lexical level and the influence of Czech on Bavarian dialects in Bavaria and finally the influence of German on Czech toponyms and nicknames. Close connections between Czech and German (historically given) are also clearly obvious in the forming of German cuisine terminology. The content-focus of the conference is suitably accompanied by the view of the relationship between dialect and standard German in the piece of art of F. Kafka and by first results of the dialectal research in German language islands at the Carpathian Ukraine.
