Keywords dialect office German archaisms in written language graphems and their phonetic interpretation
Description The article deals with the comparison of vocalism between dialect recorded in Modřice u Brna and language of local medieval monument Mödritzer Waisenbuch 1531-1568. The comparison shows that the spoken form contains much more of the dialectal elements than the written form. Furthermor, the territorial opposites of middle-upper-German diphthongs ie, uo in German dialects in the area of South and Middle Moravia and their reflection in medieval office German are examined. On the basis of discovered state, a proposition is establishe, that disgraphs ie, ue have the validity of archaisms in office texts and these archaisms only describe the long diphthongs í, ú. The analysis of dialects can contribute to the evaluation and correct interpretation of the deviations and rarities of the office usage. On the other hand, it is not possible to present variety and diversity of phonetics of local dialects only on the basis of graphematic analysis of the office German.
