Description The paper summarizes the process and results of the scientific conference Structuralism and Historism in the 20th century Philosophy that took place in Brno in 1968. We focus in detail on the discourse by L. Nový Structuralism and the Polemics about the Philosophy of Marxism, dedicated to the question of possible polarity of structuralism and historism in the history of Marxism, and to the new possibilities of its interpretation, as well as to some crucial problems of Marxist Philosophy that are opened by this enquiry. Also, we pay attention to the paper of Igor Hrušovský The Dialectics of Structuration and History, where the idea of polystructuration and multidimensionality of the whole objective reality was emphasized, and to the paper of Elena Várossová Structuralism in the Slovak Philosophy in the 1940s, dedicated to the contribution of I. Hrušovský to the formation of modern methodological theories, especially those of structuralism, and to the importance of his conception of dynamic structure of reality.
