Description Hazardous waste disposal practices had led to the contamination opf various environmental components, especially of soil and ground water in the past. At present, the law sets regulatory and technical requirements that should prevent the contaminated sites to arise. Nevertheless they still do exist and it is very difficult to cope with the problem of environmental contamination. The aim of this contribution is to show how the problem of contaminated sites is solved in the regime of the Czech Waste Act No. 185/2001 Sb., as amended, and in other related laws.
