| Description | Public discourse is a notion wide enough, except official and highly formalized communication situations it involves also communication acts running in schools, authorities, visiting a doctor, religious ceremonies, shopping etc. A wide line of users link it, however, above all to the communication acts in the audiovisual media. Language behaviour in the media becomes a model for many speakers. The distraction from standard language seems to be linked to quite new aspects of communication situations being characteristic right for the media. The margin between public and private, official and unofficial get here often blurred or they right disappear. Equally it is so at the margin between spontaneity and stylisation, readiness and unreadiness. The state of contemporary public oral communication is a result of influence of factors linguistic and extralinguistic, more exactly said sociolinguistic, cultural and also purely subjective. For the Czech situation is besides typical that one of causes consists in the language system itself where unlike the other languages a strong colloquial level is missed. |
