Description The purpose of this study was to describe the confocal microscopic findings before and after CCL for keratoconus. Twenty subjects were enrolled, mean age was 33.9 years. Confocal scan (Confoscan 4, NIDEK) was performed in all patients before CCL and every month after procedure. The examination revealed the changes of anterior and mid stroma, where the keratocytes disappeared and disorganization of intercellular matrix was evident. The initiation of repopulation by keratocytes was apparent since 3rd month after procedure. In vivo confocal scan is a noninvasive tool for evaluation of corneal healing after CCL.
