Description The Rosice-oslavany coal mining district is the oldest coal mining district in the Czech Republic. After the mining was finished and the mines were abandoned, the whole mine work was flooded in the year 1992. The groundwater flow in the study area is significantly affected by the position of the old mine galleries and pits at present time. For better understanding of the mine work influence on the groundwater flow the conceptual numerical groundwater flow model was constructed with the GMS 5.1 programme. The model simulated the groundwater regime before as well as after active mining. The model demonstrated a significant influence the mine work has on groundwater flow.
