Description Russian-Ukrainian natural gas crisis from the beginning of 2009 once again accentuated Europe s energy dependency on Russian sources. This dependency represents various risks and creates pressure on solving the situation. Widespread utilization of LNG can serve as one of the solutions. The authors analyze whether LNG can truly take on its security role, what costs would be implied, and what are the potential hindrances of its future development.
