Description The Czech Republic belongs among the most burdened countries in Europe and the world as regards the epidemiology of malignant tumours. Evaluation of neoplasms except for other skin tumours (C44) show the incidence rate of almost 511 diagnoses per 100 thousand inhabitants, the mortality rate is over 262 deaths per 100 thousand inhabitants. At the period after 1995, mortality trends ceased to increase, which fact, however, leads to a sustained growth in prevalence due to growing incidence. In 2007 the prevalence in the CR was nearly 290 000 individuals (neoplasms without other skin tumours). The most common diagnoses include cancer of the colon and rectum, malignant lung tumours, breast cancer in women and prostate cancer in men. Epidemiological characteristics of malignant tumours in the Czech population are available on-line on the portal www. svod.cz.
