Description Patients with leg ulcers frequently become sensitized to topical allergens. It often results in prolonged and complicated healing of the ulcers. The source of sensitization is topical preparations and wound care products, less often folk medicine products applied to the ulcer. In these preparations not only active drugs, but also constituents may elicit contact allergy. The most commonly referred contact allergens in leg ulcer patients are balsam of Peru, Fragrance mix, neomycin sulphate, wool alcohols, colophony and topical corticosteroids. In our department we have obtained similar results.
