Description The paper examines the extent to which the general principles of private law apply to the regulation of labour relations. The analysis is based on the specific developments of the relationship of civil and labor law which was influenced by the isolation of labor law from civil law. Despite this recent separation, there is no doubt that the labour law falls under the private law system. Thus, the relations arising in connection with the performance of dependent work should be covered with the general private law principles. The article selects two basic principles of private law for the purpose of closer analysis, namely the legal equality of parties and freedom of contract.
