Description The article is divided into two parts. The first one is concerned with the general analysis of the punctuation inventory and its rules in the prints of Czech church hymns of the 17th and 18th century (with partial excursions in the 16th century). The principal aim of this part is to analyse, how the punctation refl ects the musical matter of the printed hymns. In the second part the author describes the way, how in the modern editions of the old hymn-books the original punctuation has to be conserved or modifi ed. The article is a part of long-term disccussion about the character of transcription base of the editions of Czech texts from the middle-times period (16th–18th century).
