| Description | The identification of central Europe with the Austro-Hungarian Empire of the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries is a prevalent characterization of the area. Central Europe is a historical space and its significance especially lies in its culture. More generally, it is possible to consider central Europe as a space of ideas capable of creative absorption and utilization of impulses from various, often contradictory lines of thought and scientific disciplines, and of inspiring new grand intellectual, cultural and artistic achievements. |
