| Description | Voriconazole and posaconazole are azol broad spectrum agents used in treatment and profylaxis of invasive fungal infections. measurement of voriconazole and posaconazole plasma levels during its treatment enables to achive optimal dosing and effective concentration, which improves the response to antifungal treatment in patients with high risk of invasive fungal infection. In some cases it could help to identify the side effects and toxicity associated with this antifungal tratment. Our aim was to integrate voriconazole and posaconazole plasma levels monitoring during treatment of fungal infections in hematooncological patients. In our institution voriconazole plasma concentrations were measured since 2005 using the HPLC with UV detection. SInce 2007 we have administrated this method on posaconazole quantification and we have tested simultaneous quantification of voriconazole and posaconazole. Now we use this simple and quick method for therapeutic drug monitoring of voriconazole and posaconazole in daily routine. |
