| Description | This study deals with 2/7-comma meantone temperament, proposed by Gioseffo Zarlino in Le istitutioni harmoniche (1558). The paper follows a study of Mark Lindley (1997) and further deals with methodological problems deriving this tuning. There is evidence that Zarlino clearly preferred proportional division of syntonic comma compared to the arithmetic division, proportionally aproximative. The study includes the reconstruction of tuning and interval of each range specification. |
