The Masaryk University Choir has won the hearts of listeners from Brno and beyond. The MU Choir has performed at concerts in the Czech Republic and abroad and participated in numerous domestic and international festivals, winning a number of prestigious awards.

The choir, which currently includes approximately 60 singers from among Masaryk University students, has recently been presenting itself as a cantata and oratorio body as it enthusiastically accepted several offers of cooperation with professional orchestras and institutions including the Brno Philharmonic Orchestra, National Theatre Brno, Bohuslav Martinů Philharmonic Orchestra Zlín, Chamber Philharmonic Orchestra Pardubice, Moravian Philharmonic Orchestra Olomouc, Slovak State Philharmonic Orchestra Košice, Leipziger Universitätsorrchester, etc. The current repertoire includes e.g. Brahms’ German Requiem, Te Deum by Bruckner, Dvořák, Pololáník and Eben, Bohuslav Martinů’s Bouquet of Flowers and The Opening of the Springs cantatas, the Nostradamus oratorio by the contemporary Brno composer Michal Košut, Gloria by Vivaldi and Poulenc, Ryba’s Czech Christmas Mass, Rossini’s Stabat Mater, Mozart’s Coronation Mass (performed at the 2012/13 season opening concerts of the Pardubice Philharmonic Orchestra), and Rutter’s and Slimáček’s Magnificat. In 2014/15 and 2015/16, the choir presented Bohuslav Martinů’s The Miracles of Mary at Brno National Theatre.

In 2006, 2009 and 2012, the choir recorded several portfolio CDs: Masaryk University Choir, Masaryk University Choir: The Best of 2006–2009 and Masaryk University Choir: 58 Minutes of Intermittent Silence.

The choir often participates in film and scenic music recording with orchestras and pre-eminent soloists (Zlín 2014 – 2CD | DVD | Blu-ray Tarja Turunen & Mike Terrana - “Beauty & The Beat”, Zlín 2011 – Thomas Bergersen (Norway) CD “Sun”, Brno 2010 soundtrack to “Fire of Conscience”, Dolní Bojanovice 2007 soundtrack to “Three Kingdoms – Resurrection of the Dragon”).

The singers also enjoy occasional ventures outside the realm of classical music, participating in concerts of popular music performers including e.g. Manowar in 2005 and 2007, Tarja Turunen & Mike Terrana in 2013, etc.
