Public Transport

Public transport is probably the best way of getting around in Brno. The Brno Public Transport Company (DPMB) operates a comprehensive network of both day and night-time connections. In addition to trams, buses and trolleybuses, the integrated public transport system even includes trains running through the city.

Night Bus Service

The night bus service is one of the most practical features of the Brno public transport system – and one you will almost certainly appreciate from time to time. Between 11 PM and 5 AM, night buses leave every hour on the hour (and at 11:30 PM and 12:30 AM on weekends) from the main train station to take passengers to destinations across the city. They converge back at the station 5 to 10 minutes prior to the next departure time to repeat the entire process throughout the night.

Pricing

As a student you are eligible for a discount public transport pass (you may be required to present your ISIC card or proof of studies). For pricing information see the fare table (Czech only). A student public transport pass for the inner city zones (100+101) costs 685 CZK per quarter or 2,375 CZK per year.

Retail locations (Czech only) are found throughout the city centre as well as at selected train stations and transportation hubs. The central public transport building is located on Novobranská Street in the city centre close to the main train station and only a short walk from Freedom Square (Náměstí Svobody). The transport pass can also be purchased online.
