Masaryk University regularly offers staff from partner institutions a chance to participate in a Masaryk University Training (MUST) Week under Erasmus+ programme or other schemes.
Research management services are an important facilitator of the success of MU in R&I. The MUST Week will be a tour of central services that are essential for development of excellent research at universities and other research institutions: grant support, research evaluation, and management of research infrastructures. It is a week of intense knowledge exchange with spotlight on good practice examples from MUNI, but co-created by all participants.

Grant Support & RM COMP
The university’s central Grant Office (GO) provides comprehensive support to researchers – from identifying funding opportunities to managing awarded projects. Support services include guidance on proposal evaluation, financial planning, and cost recovery from national and EU sources. MUNI actively shares its experience in coordinating Horizon Europe projects and participates in Widening instruments such as Teaming, Twinning, ERA Chairs, Excellence Hubs, and European Excellence Initiatives.
GO offers targeted support for applicants to Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions (MSCA) and European Research Council (ERC) grants. The university has hosted 13 ERC grants across all research domains. Internal grant schemes and mentoring programs help researchers prepare competitive proposals. Within the RM COMP (Research Management Competence Framework), MUNI develops training and mentoring programs for research managers and administrators, including a tailored curriculum for internal capacity building.
Research Infrastructures
MUNI is actively involved in 15 large research infrastructures listed on the Czech national roadmap and participates in 12 ESFRI projects, including INSTRUCT, ECRIN, EuroBioImaging, ELIXIR, ACTRIS, DARIAH, and others. It also coordinates its own ESFRI project, EIRENE, focused on environmental exposure assessment.
Part of the program includes an introduction and guided tour of CEITEC MU Core Facilities (CF). These facilities provide access to cutting-edge instrumentation and expert services across life sciences, structural biology, nanotechnology, genomics, neuroscience, and more.
Access is managed via an online reservation system, with training and consultation available.
CEITEC MU’s Core Facilities are essential for high-impact research and innovation, offering certified services and contributing to the university’s scientific excellence.
Research Evaluation
The Centre for Scientometric Support and Evaluation (CSSE) at Masaryk University provides expert services in research performance analysis, research evaluation, and bibliometrics. It promotes responsible evaluation and responsible use of metrics.
MUNI is a signatory of the ARRA agreement, a member of CoARA and aligns its evaluation practices with international standards such as DORA and the Leiden Manifesto.
Science Communication
Masaryk University actively promotes science communication as part of its research strategy. The university engages with professional audiences, stakeholders, and the public at regional, national, and international levels. Key activities include training and workshops for researchers and PhD students on self-presentation and public engagement, collaboration with the External Relations and Marketing Office on popularization initiatives, support for ethical publishing, open science, and visibility of research results and strategic communication of research impact and institutional achievements.
The MUST Week will be a tour of central services that are essential for development of excellent research at universities and other research institutions: grant support, and management of research infrastructures. A week of intense knowledge exchange with spotlight on good practice examples from MUNI but co-created by all participants. We look forward to seeing you in Brno!!!
