Čo nám dokážu napovedať hostiteľsky špecifické parazity o evolúcii ich hostiteľov – príklad enigmatického Aulopyge huegelii a žiabrových parazitov rodu Dactylogyrus

| Popis | Host specificity of fish parasites is considered as one of the most important characteristic in regards of understanding biogeography and historical dispersion of their hosts. Dactylogyrus (Monogenea) parasites appear to be the most suitable candidate for solving uncertain phylogeny of cyprinids. One of the problematic species is Aulopyge huegelii, endemic species of Balkan Peninsula. Therefore, we decided to investigate the parastite fauna of this enigmatic species and resolve the phylogenetic relationships among Dactylogyrus of Aulopyge and Dactylogyrus with wide distribution range. In total, we identified 2 Dactylogyrus species (1 described as new for science) and 3 Gyrodactylus species (all 3 identified as potentially new for science). Phylogenetic reconstruction revealed that new Dactylogyrus species is evolutionary close to Dactylogyrus of Barbus and Luciobarbus from Balkans. |
