Popis The development of party and non-party Euroskepticism in the Czech Republic is one of the most prominent phenomena in Czech political history in the last decade. This phenomenon can be seen in the rise of a variety of parties and social movements whose goals fall along a spectrum of opposition against the specific direction of European integration to outright opposition against the EU in general. Moreover, it is clear that in the past ten years (at the very least) where this increase in the visibility of Euroskepticism in Czech media has occurred, it has often centered around the EU positions and opinions of the President at the time, Václav Klaus. This article examines the effect of Klaus on these movements, and demonstrates how he was the driving force both for their formation and their success.
