Popis Although bilingual pupils attend kindergartens with Czech as the primary language of communication, a bilingual child is often seen as a pupil who needs constant support from teachers to succeed in the school system. Teachers also often distrust bilingualism and bilingual education itself, which is also related to the lack of Czech professional literature on this topic. During an internship in the USA, I had the opportunity to get acquainted with the view of American teachers on bilingualism and compare the approach to bilingual children in American preschool education. These findings inspired my doctoral research and developed the research goals of the work. Currently, the methodological part is being reworked to be possible carrying out data collection in the spring of 2021, as the original research plan could not be processed during the coronavirus pandemic.
