Popis A method of eye tracking has recently become a handy tool often used in the research of psychiatric disorders. Considering the eye-mind hypothesis we can assume, that by using an eye tracker we might be able to identify the areas which attract participant’s attention. Using an eye tracker is also a more objective method than self-assessment, which is based on participant’s self-reflection and honesty, and it makes examining children and non-verbal participants less difficult. The aim of this text is to describe how eye tracking has been used in the research of autism spectrum disorder until now. If we are able to identify the areas of the picture that attract the attention of autistic participants the most and compare them with the areas of the control group, we can easily characterize, and eventually try to minimalize, the differences between typical and autistic perception.
