Popis | The development of antimicrobial resistance, the increasing number of zoonoses and the decreasing immunity of the population represent a major threat to humanity worldwide. Antimicrobial resistance represents an increased risk of patient death and increased healthcare costs. To overcome this undesirable situation, the most advantageous proposal is the design of new agents with a new/innovative mechanism of action. One possibility for the design of new drugs is inspiration from natural compounds with multiple activities, such as 2-hydroxybenzoic acid derivatives. By modifying this scaffold, small, simple molecules can be obtained, which surprise with a wide range of biological activities and the ability to influence various cellular structures. Therefore, it is advantageous to use them for the design of multi-target anti-invasive compounds. The contribution is focused on the research of new amides structurally derived from hydroxyarylcarboxylic acids and their carbamates, which showed strong bactericidal activity against clinical isolates of drug-resistant Gram-positive bacteria as well as against mycobacteria. |
