| Popis | Given the fact that our world is vastly overpopulated, one-child ethics is the right and proper ethical message to send (alongside with decreasing per capita production and consumption). Though proponents of this ethics propose it on a global scale and thus universally, it may appear that is meant for the people of the Global South, where fertility remains high (in comparison with the Global North, where it is falling rapidly). We live in a world that carries with it a burdensome heritage of colonialism, imperialism and racism. We live in a postcolonial world where postcolonialism, which has to deal with all these issues and legacies, is one of the most important and influential discourses among students of society. In this presentation, I introduce and discuss problems and challenges one-child ethics faces when encountering the world of postcolonial thinking and African political and social philosophy and when trying to take roots in the societies and among the people of the Global South. Though incorporating one-child ethics into the paradigm of postcolonialism and African thinking may be difficult, is it is not impossible because there are powerful intersections which I briefly introduce and discuss, because one-child ethics, if well implemented, could greatly help to the African betterment. |
