| Popis | University students are a unique mobility group, balancing academic responsibilities with part-time jobs. Their daily travel routines are shaped by the interplay of university schedules, study demands, and work shifts. This study explores the commuting patterns of working students through the lens of rhythmanalysis and the concept of pacemakers, uncovering how their mobility fluctuates throughout the academic year. Based on a 2024 questionnaire survey and semi-structured interviews conducted in the Brno Metropolitan Area (Czechia), the findings reveal that student commuting differs significantly from conventional work-related travel. Notably, mobility patterns shift between lecture periods, exam sessions, and holidays, affecting travel frequency, preferred days, and journey timing. A striking feature of student mobility is their movement between university and work during the day, often involving longer and irregular commutes. By shedding light on this often-overlooked group, this research emphasizes the need to consider diverse commuting behaviors in mobility studies and transport planning. |
