Popis The main goal of the project is to deepen the knowledge and skills of the workshop participants and understand the technological principles of production and especially the painted decoration of ancient pottery. The program of the workshop entitled "Reconstructing Ancient Pottery Painting Techniques" will consist of a theoretical part, i.e. several lectures related to ancient pottery, and a subsequent laboratory, i.e. practical demonstrations of the technologies of painted decoration of ancient vases, led by an artist and expert in ancient techniques Roberto Paolini, and supplemented by his exposition. The workshop will focus on Corinthian, black-figure, and red-figure painting techniques. R. Paolini uses techniques for the production and decoration of vessels that were very likely used by ancient potters and ceramic painters. He uses special hand-made brushes for painting. During the laboratory, interested parties will be able to personally try out the ancient technique of painting on plates made especially for this occasion. Workshop participants will thus have an extraordinary opportunity to gain unique and fundamental knowledge and skills from a renowned expert. In addition, students will also learn the terminology of professional terms related to this topic in English, but if interested, also in Italian. Main lectures list: Why Painted Pottery? (Věra Klontza – Nov 4, 2025, 12:00, ÚAM) Etruscan Red-figure Pottery: The Case Study of the Gruppo di Vanth (Marína Zubajová – Roberto Paolini – Nov 6, 2025, 18:00, ÚAM) Technologies of Production and Decoration of Ancient Pottery (Roberto Paolini – Nov 7, 2025, 11:00, ÚAM)
