Popis The study focuses on analysing the tasks promoting mediation skills, which are presented in Czech and Austrian teaching aids/textbooks on Russian as a foreign language. The research also presents the results of a study of Czech and Austrian Russian language teachers' views on developing students' intercultural and semantic mediation skills. Based on practical examples, tools and strategies for integrating mediation into language teaching and its impact on the development of intercultural communicative competence are discussed. The presented data and conclusions may be useful for teachers, educators and authors of didactic materials who strive to introduce innovative approaches in teaching RFL.
