| Popis | This lecture deals with the production of early medieval (8th/9th century) defensive and offensive weapons in Central Europe. Both historical and archaeological sources are examined in parallel. The production sites are located at the residences of manorial elites, while potentially free blacksmiths are also discussed. Another focus is on distribution, where, in addition to the classic gift-exchange narrative, systems of trade and tribute are emphasized. |
