| Popis | Two predominant grieving styles, instrumental and intuitive grieving (Martin & Doka, 2024), remain influential in bereavement discourse. Although often presented as neutral, these models are implicitly gendered, with women commonly expected to grieve through emotional expression and relational engagement. Following a suicidal loss or pregnancy loss, such expectations can intensify women’s vulnerability, as these forms of bereavement are frequently marked by stigma, silence, and moral judgment. This presentation examines how gendered norms of grief shape women’s experiences of suicide and pregnancy loss, often resulting in disenfranchised grief and pressure to conform to normative grieving scripts that fail to reflect the complexity of their lived experiences. |
