| Popis | Generative artificial intelligence is becoming a common companion tool in scientific practice, but it should not become its replacement. We will begin by exploring why LLMs cannot “do research” on their own, yet can significantly support individual stages of the research workflow – from ideation and literature review to data management and the communication of results to both expert and general audiences. We will clarify the differences between application-focused AI systems (classical predictive and analytical AI) and generative AI, introduce the basic technical principles behind contemporary models, and reflect on their possibilities and limitations. In the practical part, we will demonstrate how to use AI effectively when searching for and organizing scientific literature, how to set up large language models as reliable research assistants for writing and revising texts, and how to work safely with citations and information verification. We will conclude with a critical look at AI usage, the ethical aspects of generative tools in research, and strategies for avoiding the most common pitfalls. |
